An annual event coinciding with the yearly Harvest Festival- Onam, the Nehru Trophy Boat Race is one of the most awaited and visually spectacular events in Kerala. Tracing back to the year 1952, this mega event draws visitors from all across the world. Huge boats cruising through the surreal backwaters of Kerala are a sight to behold!

The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held every year in the month of August on the second Saturday. The drumbeats along with the chanting of the boat songs known as ‘Vanchipattu’ builds up the tempo and the right environment for an exhilarating event. The frenzy of activities including local music and dance performances impart a distinct character and flavor to the celebrations.
