Tour Plan

Welcome to Delhi!

Upon arrival at Delhi International airport, you will be met by our welcome ambassador and escorted to your hotel where you will be assisted with Check-in formalities.

Overnight stay in Delhi

Early this morning after a quick cup of tea/coffee you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Leh. This one-hour flight from the Indian capital to Ladakh’s capital will be something that you might remember for the rest of your life. Assistance on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

There will be no activity on your first day of arrival as it is recommended for tourists to relax and undergo minimal exertion to enable them to get acclimatized to rarefied oxygen level in this high-altitude region ensconced in the high Himalayan plateau.

After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45 kilometers west of Leh, after passing through the Chortens and Mani walls to enter the complex through the East Gate.  Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh.

From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh.

After breakfast we explore the lovely Saboo valley and its rural landscape on foot approx 3-4 hours learning about the Ladakhi way of life. Our walk into the Saboo Village takes us through cultivated lands  passing through the traditional houses and then walking through the alley climbing up along the old catsle where you are rewarded with a 360 degree view of the the Indus Valley.

After that, you will proceed for a hot Lunch at a  Local Ladakhi Kitchen with the family. Followed with a walk around the village.

After lunch you will proceed on a gentle orientation tour of Leh. Visit the popular landmarks, which include the magnificent Leh Palace. Built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century, the palace has nine storeys’ part of which is in ruins. Some of the sections display some fine traces of Ladakhi architecture. The Heritage exploration continues Later in the afternoon a drive to Shanti stupa for a sunset view across the Indus valley.

Dinner at the hotel.

Early morning, transfer to Rumbak Village(Average driving time approx 1hr and then walk for 3 hours to reach Rumbak Valley.)  which is known for various sightseeing’s, but then again, it all depends on our luck, we continue our walk back to the jeep able road and then continue towards our right to reach Zingchan Village, which again consists of two – three houses, we continue further off the road along the path and the stream crossing the Wild life Dept, office with no one around and then crossing the small bridges, before we finally reach our base camp just below Hozing valley, the base camp is marked with a  Buddhist flag, although not a very good campsite, but the best we can figure around the valley.

Later in the afternoon, a visit to the surrounding area, followed with briefing by our guide. Rumbak Village, As you continue up the gorge, make a dramatic entry to the snow leopard’s high altitude home in Hemis National Park. En-route, watch amidst the cliffs and at the base of rocks where they mark their turf for sign of snow leopard, and other wildlife. The trail continues through some very interesting rural landscape comprising of stupas and fields. En route enjoy a hot picnic lunch. Continue trekking along the main valley as you approach a lathos   with prayer flags and blue sheep horns on it. Arrive into the village of Rumbak by afternoon. Following check in to your tents, the rest of the evening is at leisure to explore the dramatic enviorns on your own.
